The club received the sad news of Will Drake passing on 1st October 2024 with his family by his side.
Will was a past member of Pendle and Craven Croquet Club, Broadwas Croquet Club, Cheltenham Croquet Club and Ben Rhydding Croquet Club.
Will was a very well known throughout the Yorkshire Federation and the North West Federation as he played in both Level Play Golf Leagues. Will only took up croquet after his wife died, when in his eighties and was still playing competitively into his late nineties. He played off a handicap of 4 and was a team member when Pendle and Craven came second in the Murphy Shield in 2017.
Will enjoyed his croquet and used croquet as a therapy in his ailing health. He was hitting croquet balls down his corridor until shortly before his death.
Also known for his home made mallet and his encyclopaedic memory he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
